30NOV (Work)

Finally, I am blogging picture of me at work.

First, Its me and one of the front office supervisor(EVA Zhang). Very funny person! She makes my day... Lol.

Second, ANTHONY Shi and me. Han 汉 race from Inner Mongolia. His smiles is crucial to his success in up selling!!!

Third, JANE He... She... is... my... direct supervisor. The Duty Manager. =)

Today... its my official day of independency! I will now work independently from tomorrow. She is going for a break! Clearing her annual leave.

So, prove that I am ready to 出师, I have successfully done Check ins, Check outs, 2 out of 3 success upselling, and balancing my casher's accounts. Now, I am ready to do what i have been aiming to do! My PROJECT. requested by my FO manager! =)

Today, its the last day of Wedding Fair held in the hotel. Sneak in during work to watch that Fashion Show and ended up caught taking video... =( NO CAMERA allowed. You will see from the suddenly stopped video recorded.

Oh, and lastly, that pic!!! that funniest pic of the day. I was trying to close the door tight. And that doorknob went out. I was stunned at a moment! Engineering Bros where are u! I need u!!! =) It was repaired at once! Thanks!!! Thousands of it!

28NOV (Living)

3 pictures is this album.

There are 3 cross training locals from 天津 Tian Jin Holiday Inn! They are namely from left James(Assistant Exec. Chef), Benny(Duty Manager) and Kent(F&B Operation Manager). 

Wahahaha. They are Jokers. I always see them play CS in their room... and WTF, don they have any more leisure activities... They say - smoke and drink... I was like... OOOOOOOOK. NICE~ 

Today, they left.... They are very nice people... like always... they invited me over... and like always, I will reply - See how okie? (With a big wide smile) =) Maybe I will. When I have the $$$!

The next two is my colleague and my duty manager playing badminton at the hotel underground car park!!! very spacious, with high ceiling!!! =) Finally, I got to do sports... Stupid HR don let us use the under utilized GYM! =(

Have I grown fatter! HELL YEAH~ 8 more kgs in 1 month!!! Was measured when i sneak into the Gym... nonetheless, the gym is under my department!!! =)

27NOV (B4 Sales Blitz)

Sales Blitz = A super fast sales call to offices at the Financial Street. No Appointment, surprise attack! aka. 扫楼 meaning sweep the the offices building.

Okie, so i don noe for what F; I've got selected to participate in is sales blitz project. Was on 28 NOV i will go out with the others selected from the different department as well as the sales and marketing people to do surprise sales call.

A flashback - It was will very exciting to go around, risking the chance of being caught by the building security! and being rejected and being impolitely treated! Nonetheless, I was one day a sales freako!

So, on that day, I have to wear super formal attire... which is really very difficult for me. I don have a SUIT in China. So, I got to go around borrowing... And I ended up taking the GREY (Fuck up colour) Jacket and white (but old and yellowish) shirt. Which is shown one of the picture in the album. Its sucks seriously, but i totally have no more option. So, i put on my kinda formal jacket I bought 7 years ago... in beijing. Which seems to make me look like some richy big shot. But thats not the point. The point is, the big GREY (again) Suit that comes with the entire attire (I call it costume!) is sooooo FKG ugly. So big that i look like a flasher when i m wearing it with my singlet. So, I chose not to wear it. And, no one said anything. So, I act blur.

Cecilia and I were wearing that FKG (I don't what it is call)... and acting a flasher... Apparently, this is the second time cecilia is doing it... She knows when is the first. =)

And I realised my room mate is asleep... at the background. So, cecilia was telling me - if he wakes up, he will be shocking and screaming for life!!! Wahahaha.

25NOV (Cooking Competition)

The first thing is... there is soooo much photo in the album... OMG...

But, I wasn't my achievement... Its Chenghui!

He and Cecilia went to this Cooking Competition... which our hotel has participated. 

and didn't win any prize. wahahaha.

I heard that the executive was very upset about it. hmmm.

He disappeared from our dormitory since then... =(

Nothing much to say 'bout this day. Anything? ask my room mate!

24 NOV

So fast... I've been out of home for a month... Yesterday was at 24 NOV...

And, I've had my first overnight stay up on 24th's 0000. I wasn't working...

My working shift on 23th was 3pm to 11pm.

So what was I doing... CELEBRATING the first month survivor in Beijing?

Perhaps yeah~ I was writing my unfinished report for school. The interim report.

One month is really too little for me to write. Other students from IAP might have more learning points and experiences... But for me. OMG. 

Its was a struggle. So, spend my entire night working on that report. And guess what, I am working on the next day, 0700. 

Meaning, I will not be able to sleep at all.. =)

Which was what I did. I stay over for the night and went to work the next morning with breakfast, a cup of coffee and 2 stamina boost pills. 

I was very high that day. I have to keep myself very awake, while saving energy for the rest of the day. I was suppose to finish work at 3pm. But I had a last minute training, Priority Club training. So my work on that day ends at 1730. 

But it wasn't over, my damn interim report was left with conclusion and i freaking have no idea how to conclusion this report with such a weird timing. So, I spend my remaining piece of shit energy to complete. =) But my stamina was boosted little all thanks to my room mate.

I was so touched by my room mate. I was soooo down, but he brighten up my evening. Here's a secret here. He smuggle canteen food for me. OMG... I wasn't prepare to have my dinner since i finished work late. It was risky for me to bring food for me! I told the people at staff canteen he have a colleague working overtime at banquet! OMG. 

After that very short meal time. After the most tastiest chicken curry rice I have eaten. After the best one month in beijing present i received. I FINISHED MY REPORT FINALLY!

And at this time, Its 2000. Which mean I have not been sleeping for 33 hours! 

 

Sending in the report online is surprising a brisk. 

Fell asleep immediately when i reach the bed. and Slept until now. =)

Had my breakfast today, 0630 at salt and pepper. I was like sleep walking...

23NOV (Lunch)

Was eating lunch at the hotel's nearby restaurant. And i really meant NEAR!!! a stone throw. 

Cecilia was accompanying me. She was pissed by the heavy sleeper. Wahahaaa... Finally.

I've tried their Dark soy sauce fried rice (酱油炒饭) in the previous times. So this time, I tried their Singaporean Favorite Fried Rice (扬州炒饭) and arh~ its taste similar to what i always ate in Singapore... =) Its like all the 煮炒 stall in most ko pi tiam is selling Fried Rice and they are normally named 扬州炒饭 ... hahaha... and its cost me 10 rmb for that Fried Rice for 2 which is 2.23546 SGD for that BIG plate of fried rice... and I finish the entire plate with little 'help' from cecilia, who is falling asleep eating with me. Cannot blame her, she just finished work. 

I must say, its good to find food that I have never thought it could be so nice after not eating for a month. 

And yeah~ tomorrow is the day where i will say, i have been in Beijing for 1 month! 

21NOV (新世界）

second off day of my 4th week of work. 

my colleagues brought me to Chong Wen District's 新世界 for dinner and we went shopping after that. =) Window shopping for me. 

Saw this Ice skating venue in the shopping mall. HAHA. Reminds me of that previous time we went ice skating together. Edwin and Jialing, was skating together. I mean Edwin was pulling Jialing while he was sprinting around the ring. And there goes both of them and Edwin brake but jialing didn't. BANG!

LOL> 

18NOV (Dinner at SOGO)

Went to the XuanWu District SOGO and had some good pepper lunch lookalike kinda food... 

Realized... there is some drawings hanged at the doorway of the girl's dorm... so 'nice' of them... the guys don have. =(

That meal was pretty Singaporean like. Sweet and Sour Chicken(suppose to be pork) plus pork rib lotus soup. OMG. Heavenly.

29OCT(Ate at Youth Restaurant with Lilian)

Lilian is the very interesting Singaporean Ladies who requested to meet us, the Singaporean Interns in Holiday Inn Central Plaza. It was mentioned in one of the previous post, 28OCT (Training Day 2)

This time round, we went to the nearby Youth Restaurant 青年餐厅, which was really very different from what we first thought it was - Youth = YMCA (Not so nice impression).

But there wasn't any relation with YMCA and stuff... This restaurant chain puts in lots of effort in the restaurant deco and when I step in, I was WOWed.

12NOV (Chenghui's Birthday)

It was a coincident that cecilia, sufang and yours truly is having OFF day together. Except the birthday boy... And, you know what ALICE (Hong Kong Intern) went to approach Chenghui's supervisor behind him and got him a nice break on his birthday! good job alice! Thanks yeah~

Okie, its an unlucky day. Me at least. At first, we wanna go 香山. Then we realised it too late to go there at 3pm. so we decided to changed to 石景山游乐园. And when we reached there. Wah ciao! (China's Vulgarity) They close at 430pm and time is 4pm. And, there are basically no one inside. So, the sales person says, they will not operate the rides for you if u only have two person sitting. We have 5... but i think its as bad. So, we have no where to go now. From west to travelled to east and now. We decided to go to wang fu jing. So, is back to center! Whole day of travelling SUCKS! 

Went to the 王府井小吃街, settled down to get our dinner. At a not very famous restaurant. Still very nice at least. But the BBQ lamb tasted like chicken. I felt cheated. But nevermind, still nice!

We went back after dinner. Had the birthday cake prepared and then Boom! Party begins. Thanks to Alice again for the cake and for the party venue... at her room(guest room - shan't explain why). Not really a party in fact. Just a ceremony. Haha.

Omg, my dear room mate. I think this is your worst brithday ever. Your 600 bucks overseas phone bill make everyone's jaw drop. All the best!

11NOV (Very Boring Fire Drill)

I was very happy to be invited to a fire drill at a fire station in Beijing. 

Which interns get to have such opportunity??? ME!

Which interns get to go into beijing's fire station and also fall asleep listening to beijing's fireman talk??? ME!!!

Which interns get to look at the neat bedding of fireman in beijing and mess up their bed plus put my emptied 旺仔牛奶 packet in the fireman's cap on the bed??? ME!!! 

Ok, i know i am bad. So, I took to off and throw in to the well hidden rubbish bin in the station.

After everything. I realised I wasted 1.5hr of my life in beijing! 

8NOV (Houhai Indian Cuisine)

the second day of my break in the second work week.

Noticed the female in the picture. She is JANE. And she is one of the duty managers in the hotel. She is my mentor. I am attached to her to learn all the basics of front desk operation and the normal routine of the duty manager. So, except toilet breaks and off work, i will be following her until i am equipped to FLY.

And, the other guy. He is one of the concierge and he stays there. He just got a tattoo on his leg with 5000RMB. OMG. And, yes, that not my leg.

We had indian cuisine... and the waiter is f**king good at up-selling and his non stop talking mouth. I have to shut him up so that i can order my lamb curry. =)

And, look at the awesome night view!!! So, much better than the small narrow singapore river. and all the bars begging for your patronage. It very very cold that time. Vapor coming out of my mouth. But i was enjoying... Jane said, the 后海 will turned into ice soon... and people will walk in and play. =)

Saw the middle aged adults dancing at PUBLIC and its was crowded... But they were pros. ALOT OF PROS! and also 踢毽子！They are definitely very active retirees!!! Mum and Dad, please go out and be a happy retiree! Go dance! Go esplanade and date! I wanna see some changes when i come back. Sister, please translate to them!

7NOV (The Place Mall)

So, I got my second break after a week. And I spent half the day surfing that the executive lounge. 

I was telling my sister: "I felt like a rich kid, owning multi-B dollar company. I attracted a lot of attention; especially, by those arrogant Chinese businessman. I don't have to describe their characteristics... you know it. I was bored too an extend that i stood at the window trying to catch a photo of a flock of bird flying.

And, to my surprise, i was lucky to browse through a blog which recommended a very nice shopping venue. Its called THE PLACE MALL 世贸天阶. All the known brands are there. And also the beijing ZARA flagship store. and their Tagline is 北京向上看! World Biggest Digital Screen is there. And, I was truly lucky to receive help from a person who knows where the nice spots for good photography in the mall. Why? He is a tour guide. AND, He specialised in SINGAPOREAN TOURS!!! OMG!!! And, I must say, I went there ALONE. And, I am very confident that i will get super good rates for my tours in Beijing, he promised me!

31OCT (Visit Aunt GuoXia)

I have my first official off day and i decided to meet my sister's god mum (aunt guoxia)

Very nice family indeed. 

For lunch, she brought me to a 'main' branch of 鹅为先 directly translated as Goose comes first. 

Apparently, they sell meals with goose meat, hotpot and BBQ. Very nice... but as usual free meals are in China, I was bloated with eating.

Took a video of that 18 Year old (can u imagine?) guy swinging and swirling that piece of dough. Its my noodle. Specially requested, to impress(bluff) foreigner like me!!! +)

Then went to her house located in the university!!! The olympic venue of wrestling and wheelchair bound Ball game(I forgot is which). And I slacked there the entire afternoon... 

Until, both of her grandsons comes by and havoc the entire house. By then I realised, Its halloween! 

And Finally, I was driven to some seafood restaurant that they have repeatedly patronized. And believe, nothing impressive about the meal except the amount. AGAIN.

They drove me back to my hotel... and finally realised they my hand is injured... and all those questioning... so... I've got a spy that gathers my whereabout and definitely she doing it for... My MUM!!! LOL. Another evidence that i have found her guilty. She insisted in coming up to look at my pathetic room!!! seriously, isn't my hint unclear? Nonetheless, i don mind... I just wonder what she is going to tell my mum when in front of me... she says... " alright, she room looks pretty well furnished, equipped and its very good already..." And i replied "well, compared to the local(Chinese) interns, my room is like no one else's."

And thats about it.

30OCT

Decided to take photos of my living environment...

I got to wash my socks and underwear bcos i only have 2 piece of laundry free everyday. Sadly..

and we found a relatively delicious meal delivery service... noticed that I used the word "relatively"

and hey... I am drinking mineral water everyday. LOL.

My messy room... pathetic isn't it. But, who cares!!!

28OCT (Training Day 2)

I couldn't do anything with my injured fingers... Seriously, my right hand became useless. 

Nonetheless, i've gone through this training day with the help of sufang... Thanks yeah~

look at the rooms... and look at my accommodation... what an envy... i mean... nevermind.

okie... and i look some self picture with my PINK shirt uniform... I am loving it!!! 

There are 3 colours, Pink, Pale Orange and Pale Green. On the order of my preference.

Oh yah... Went to one of the oldest Peking Duck Outlet with this Singapore lady!!! With sufang... Very nice of her. She is traveling alone and wanted some travel buddies... and so we accompanied her. She is very energetic. Very hyper... unlike her age. Very youthful.

We all enjoyed the peking duck... crispy skin, chewy meat, taste enchanting sauce.. Oh...

27OCT (Training Day 1)

can u imagine how unfortunate i m one my first of training. I smashed my fingers on my right hand... bleeding non stop, and was asking to run across the lobby with the bloody dripping hand... and the situation was hilarious...

my hand are numbed... and even when the alcohol was being applied to my bleeding finger... i don feel it... lol... i think i crack my finger bone...

Now, i cant write, eat and do everything properly.

One side is bleeding and the other is bruising...

After that i was fine.

Went for cross training to know more about the different segment of the front office department. including the gym... which fang and i slacked there for hours... =)

and the executive lounge...

then ending the training with the monthly staff birthday bash... very nice of them... and the Chinese speaking westerner EAM of the hotel insisted in speaking with us in english in the event.

For dinner, we went to this 'fast food' taiwanese restaurant... selling cheap set meals... Named Da Cheng Jia (大成家) plus we realised they do delivery!!! OMG... thats awesome during winter... and to continue my laziness.

Looking at it... Ms Peck is 'fantasizing' the veg... =) did she eat it in the end... ask her... =)

26OCT (Farm Visit Hebei with Northern Lion Troupe)

a long car ride to Hebei, my ass almost went out of shape.

okie the point is... its very nice of the northern lion dance troupe in hebei...

Lunch as u can see from the web album... is damn heavy(the meal)... 

First time i see farm like this... OMG... its damn nice... and the sky is so clear... so blue...

Its heaven over there... until i go to their toilet. I felt condemned, all the way to hell.

Watched that 4 lions on ball and all... =)

Ate another HEAVY dinner... omg... i admit a was bloated... after food and white wine... and i don mean western white wine... Chinese white wine 58% 

The ending is the best... we were bid farewell with firecrakers and fireworks... omg... I mean it... See my web album for evident.

25OCT KFC Dinner with Walmart Merchandise

Went to Walmart to get some essentials... I really have to except the fact that i m not staying in hotel room... No shampoo, body foam, towel... i got to buy myself...

First time in my life wearing beanie... i was too lazy to style my hair... and it was damn hot in walmart... no air conditioner... they off it becos it was cold outside... And yeah... OUTSIDE... not INSIDE!

25OCT IHG Beijing Sport Meet

OMG... we need to wake up at 0530 in the morning to meet the HR at 0620.

So early... so tired... furthermore... i went out with coach yesterday night... 

The sport days was very boring for all 4 of us. We fell asleep... and the girls saw DOHR stared at my room mate and me while we are dozing off... Doesn't seems to be very happy about it.

I was fascinated by the group skipping... so i look some pics... Also, i took pictures of my British GM competing in one of the items... Quite silly i thought... but its very nice and open minded of him to accept the challenge... Apparently, with his size, its a challenge... But he got 2nd. 

The march in is very comical... but grand... RED FLAGS... see pics...

Oh, wind on that day is huge! Perhaps cecilia and sufang almost fly away... Chenghui and I happily jumping up to see if that wind can move us afterwards in the air... Didn get to experience such wind in singapore... LOL. Mountain Turtle.

Going out with Coach

Coach reached Beijing one day after me, and I went to his hotel to meet him after work. Its Friday today. Went to Olympic Green at night and the view is great once again. I have no regret coming over. Enjoy the pictures.

Decided to go watch the musically fountain in the Water cube. Very nice as well, but it’s a concert and I tot it has a storyline. =( But overall, its still alright.

Went back to the hotel and ate Chicken Rice (really taste like it) in the hotel’s F&B outlet. Quite Expensive though. Getting ready for the ‘sport day’ in the coming day, got to wake up super early tomorrow.

Reaching Beijing

The Terminal 3 in Beijing is marvelous, huge and stylish. In comparison to the Airport in Singapore, this terminal is equivalent to all terminals in Singapore. LOL. We reach there at 0630 and its was very empty, very quiet, very nice. I thought it would be crowded as well. =) Very good first impression I’ve got.

Waited the luggage for years but Checking Out was a breeze. Entering the Arrival Hall and saw this fierce looking man holding the big card – GOH CHENG HUI (my roommate) It was damn funny, he is already very fierce and pissed off waiting for our arrival 1 hr ago. But, he was not blaming us for it. JUST PISSED. =)

Reaching the hotel, I just knew that I am in the right place! But when I reach my room, took back my words… =( It’s a prison cell, with no wireless/LAN, shared toilet, no window, very small wardrobe and a TV that’s is much better than my SCV at home. Wahahaha.

Got my uniform and its look GREAT! I love it! It’s a White suit with Pink/Pale Orange Shirt.

Went out to buy some clothing as it was too cold to around with our currently wardrobe. But in the end, we look like Aliens compared to the Locals. =) Tried taking the metro and went for eat Qa Jiang Mian! Super oil!!! But it taste great! But I don’t think Cclia and Sufang will like it.

Leaving Singapore

Wasn’t too excited after all… Took some photos and stuff… Get all the check in procedure and wait for checking in. Bought lots of liquor for sister’s god-mum. CW and QX came for farewell. My classmates as well! My entire family was there though they left early. Pretty cool! but also very abrupt. Haha.

The moment I went up the pathetic Air China Plane, I knew I gotta adapt to a much differentiated environment. In the plane, it was noisy, messy and crowded. We were one of the last to board the plane and I was expecting everyone seated and waiting for the plane to take off. But it wasn’t that case… totally.

Finally. [Day -4]

Friday - Got the In principle document from Beijing.

Saturday - bought the Ticket.

Today - Back up laptop, and prepared to leave

Countdown...

this is a pre-launch blog entry. I also have a soft launch for every new blog i m using.

And now, i m back to blogspot again. Because China insist to be pro-blogger and not very 'open' to the others.

So, finally i can able to countdown the days to go Beijing for my internship.

Seriously, its a long wait. I am going to leave Singapore THIS WEEK!!! YAY!

There is so many things to do and I am so afraid that i will left out any which important and cannot be accomplished Beijing.
